For any other fans of dinosaur comics and brains, here is today’s comic which describes how sound and light are processed by the brain. The time delay between signal transduction of these different sensory inputs is very small (on the order of milliseconds), which is kind of a hard temporal difference to consciously detect. Let’s also remember that through air, light travels much faster than sound. This is why you see the lightning before you hear the thunder… not due to minute differences in how quickly your brain can process the signals, but simply due to how the signal is sent before it reaches you. Apologies for the delay in posts- I’m going to start up again more regularly soon. In the meantime, I thought this comic might be fun!
I’m not sure how to feel about this information. I wish I could confront my brain about it.
